Palleting, shrink-film wrapping, and transports in fully automated processes

The Italian Gruppo Elettric 80 Bieffe s.r.l. has produced a complete handling concept, where palleting, shrink-film automation systems, empty pallet systems, and laser guided vehicles for transports. The system enables an automated process, fully integrated with a process controlled production flow.
The transport system was the final link in a fully automated, but flexible palleting plant. Previously, the solution to this was a system of conveyors from the production lines to different processing stations.
With the Eagle 50 system each production line finishes with a modular palleting robot, which in turn is served by laser guided AGVs. With the laser guided AGVs, it has been possible to achieve total integration between the production lines and other processing stations, while gaining full flexibility in the flow.
The transports are controlled by the master process program, which ensures that a production process can be automated all the way to a finished, shrink-film wrapped, and labelled pallet, ready for distribution.
This requires full reliability in the complete chain in terms of control, inspection and follow-up of the production data.
Drop-off points for finished pallets in the system are also documented, so that storage areas can be utilised in full.
Since the system consists of standardised sub-components which are assembled according to customer requirements, each plant becomes custom designed.
Equally important is the fact that the automated transports provide a high degree of protection against damaged goods.
