Synchronous Motors
Danaher Motion synchronous motors offer substantial advantages in applications needing their very unique capabilities.
Superior Electric and Pacific Scientific synchronous motors are high pole count motors that naturally turn at slower speeds (72 or 60 rpm @ 60 and 50 Hz respectively). They only need a resistor capacitor (RC) network to operate from single-phase AC utility power. For loads that operate at 72 RPM or slower, they are very cost effective and simple to use.
Other motor technologies (induction, DC, servo and step motors) either need gear reducers or electronic drives to match the speed of synchronous motors. The cost of just the gear reduction or the cost of the electronic drive will usually exceed the total cost of these synchronous motors. For even slower speeds planetary gear reducers are offered. These synchronous motors produce very low speeds with only modest gear reductions.
- 72 rpm motor speed (with 60 Hz voltage) 60 rpm motor speed (with 50 Hz voltage)
- Constant speed does not vary with the load

- Torques: 50 to 1,060 N-cm (70 to 1,500 oz-in)
- Gear reducers with ratios up to 125:1 and torques up to 3,670 N-cm (5,000 oz-in)
- UL and CE hazardous duty versions
- Fast starting, stopping, or reversing
- Can be stalled indefinitely without overheating
X and XCE Series
Superior Electric explosion proof X & XCE Series motors are available in NEMA size 42 and 66 (110 and 170 mm) with torques up to 1059 N-cm (1500 oz-in)Learn More >
SN and ST Series
Pacific Scientific ST/SN Series synchronous motors provide high performance in three frame sizes, NEMA 23, 34 and 42 (60, 90 and 110 mm). Resistor - capacitor kits are also available.Learn More >
KS Series
Utilizing the latest in design and magnetic technologies, the Superior Electric KS Series AC synchronous motors produce double the torque of their predecessors. This achievement allows the user to reduce the size and weight of the motor, increase system performance, improve productivity, and reduce cost. NEMA size 23 and 34 (60 and 90 mm) frame size models are available with torques ranging from 49 to 490 N-cm (70 to 700 oz-in).Learn More >
SS Series
Superior Electric SS series, NEMA size 34 (90 mm) AC synchronous motors, are designed to operate directly from 3 phase power. They can also be operated from single phase power with the addition of a capacitor. Two models are available with rated torques of 169 and 318 N-cm (240 and 450 oz-in)Learn More >
